Summer is a time when children are thrilled to be out of school and when many are headed to summer camp. Summer camp is exciting for any child. But for children with disabilities, it becomes more of an experience. The Austin Chapter of Credit Unions (ACCU) presented the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in Austin, Texas, with a check for $15,500 to support their week long summer camp program, Camp for All.
“On behalf of MDA and the families we serve I would like to thank all of you who worked hard to put the golf tournament together and everyone who participated,” said Marcie McDonald, Executive Director for MDA. “Without each of one of you we wouldn’t be able to do what we do for the local families served by MDA.”
“We were able to host a great golf tournament and in turn help a wonderful organization,” said Brandy Logan, ACCU President. “I am so pleased we were able to help provide a positive experience for children with muscular dystrophy and to help them overcome some of the barriers of their disability.”
MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. MDA does not receive any government grants or government funding to support their efforts. Their programs are mainly funded through private contributions. The Austin Chapter of Credit Unions is a philanthropic group representing credit unions in the Austin area.
