The Austin Chapter of Credit Unions has a long standing commitment to helping children in the communities we serve. Naturally, when we heard a new children’s hospital was being built, we wanted to do whatever we could to help make this dream a reality. With the help of all the Austin credit unions, the Austin Chapter of Credit Unions was able to make a $2.5 million dollar pledge towards the new Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. The biggest fundraiser for the chpater is the upcoming Kids Classic Golf Tournament and Auction Party which is scheduled for September 16 and 17. Please visit www.kidsclassic.org for full details.

Several credit union presidents were treated to a tour of the new hospital on July 26. The highlight of the tour came when they were brought to the second floor of the hospital and were shown the Austin Chapter of Credit Union Inpatient Wing.

2007 CMN Fundraiser Update

Posted by Austin Chapter

Jun12

The Austin Chapter of Credit Unions completed another successful fund raising year for the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. This year, we raised an incredible $150,000.00! We would like to express our heart felt gratitude for all the support from the Austin area Credit Unions. Each individual Credit Union and their members raised awareness and funds for the children of Central Texas.

This year the winners were announced on May 31st at the KVET Radiothon which was held in the lobby of the current Children’s Hospital where doctors, patients, nurses, and family members were able to express their appreciation over the radio. We invited all the Credit Union Coordinators to be present for the drawing. With a playpen full of CMN tickets, a representative from Nyle Maxwell Pontiac GMC dug deep for the winning tickets. At 4:30p.m., Pamela Cotton announced the winner of the prizes.

Each year we are getting closer and closer to our ultimate goal of $2.5 million. With this year pushing us over the halfway mark, we will present a check to the Hospital on June 21st at our Celebration Dinner along with awards for the top selling Credit Unions, top selling employees and recognition plaques for our sponsors. We invite all to join us for this celebration. Hope to see you there!!!!

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!

CMN Raffle Kicks Off

Posted by Austin Chapter

Apr06

The Austin Chapter of Credit Unions has begun our annual effort to raise money for the new Dell Children’s Hospital of Austin by selling raffle tickets at all Austin area credit unions. By purchasing a raffle ticket for only $1, you get a chance at winning a 2007 Pontiac G6 gifted by Nyle Maxwell Pontiac GMC, 2 round trip airline tickets (good to anywhere in the contiguous US, Canada, Mexico or South America) gifted by Tramex Travel or a 37” flat panel HP HDTV gifted by Benefits Unlimited.

With our focus on making an impact in community, the Austin Chapter of Credit Unions has committed to raising $2.5 million over a total of eight years to help bring down the cost of such an enormous project. This year marks the halfway point in our goal and once again. Last year, the raffle raised $160,000, for the Medical Center, and we hope to surpass that amount this year with the help of all our members, the community and our vendors.

With its projected opening in June 2007, the Dell Children’s Hospital will be more than triple the size of the current Children’s Hospital. On its 32-acre site, it will offer pediatric inpatient rehabilitation, a mobility gym, fully wireless technology, more play and activity rooms, a healing garden, and family-friendly patient rooms. As we go forward, the hospital will provide enhanced programs for children of Central Texas, which makes this year even more important to become involved. The Austin Chapter of Credit Unions wants to make sure Austin’s future is a healthy one, and the future starts with the children.

The ACCU board is excited about everything we accomplished in 2006 and for everything we have in store for 2007. We have a few new faces on the board this year as well as some familiar faces in new positions. Please do not hesitate to contact anyone of us anytime throughout the year if you have questions about what is going on in the chapter.

To help you plan your schedule a little easier, we’ve posted all the events, chapter meetings and training sessions we have planned as of now for this year. These dates and times are definitely tentative so please check back periodically for updated information or items that have been added. Thanks again to everyone who helps make this one of the best, if not the best, chapter in all of Texas! And please remember, we are always looking for ways to improve on every aspect of the chapter from meetings and training sessions to our golf tournaments and our website, so feel free to give us feedback either through our website or by email. All of our contact information can be found under the Chapter Board’s link on the top of the page. Thanks again for your support and we are looking forward to an exciting 2007!

Welcome to the new and improved Austin Chapter of Credit Union’s website. We are very excited about the new look and great features we’ve added and we really hope you’ll enjoy your new chapter website as much as we do. We’re not completely finished yet, but we think this is a good starting point.

This site’s going to grow into much more than what you see now. In the upcoming months, we’re going to be adding:

  • More events to the calendar
  • Online payment for all chapter events (including meetings, training, partner program, etc.)
  • And More!

Since this is definitely a work in progress, we would love to get your feedback (both positive and negative). We will use your questions, comments and suggestions to help improve the site as we go. Thanks again for all of your support!
